Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of environmentally oriented installation art (eco-art) as a form of visual expression and pedagogical tool. The aim of the work is to identify the characteristics of eco-art installations and their potential in shaping sustainable thinking and environmental sensitivity. The methodology is based on an interdisciplinary approach that includes analysis of scientific literature, content analysis of artistic cases, semi-structured interviews with artists and curators, and the development of conceptual models. The case studies include the projects Plastic Reef by Maarten Vanden Eynden, Trash Temple by Raumlabor, as well as Russian initiatives Layer by Layer and Breathing Wall. Based on this analysis, three conceptual models of eco-art installations are proposed: Second Life, “Growing Object,” and “Plastic. Memory.” The results show that eco-art installations are not only aesthetic objects but also means of environmental education, stimulating empathy, critical thinking, and cultural transformation. Eco-art installations are a significant tool for environmental education, combining artistic expression, engagement, and critical reflection on consumption. They shape environmentally oriented thinking, reinforce cultural change, and promote responsibility by supporting dialogue between society, science, and contemporary art.
